Question by Kim: Where to find seahorses and tropical fish listings?
What’s a good site that lists seahorses and/or tropical fish breeds that tell the animal’s name and has good pictures?
I’m doing a project for art class in school and the sketch counts as a big part of our grade.

(we’re doing a colored drawing of the animal before we make it with slabs of clay)

If you can’t find what you are looking for there, check in your local fish store keeps back issues of Tropical Fish Hobbyist (either Central Pet or Royal has the habit of putting a copy or two of older issues in tanks). There was an article last year all about sea horses. Awesome stuff with phenomenal pics.

I live in New Jersey, and hurricane Irene is going to be here very soon. The power will likely go out for a long time. I have a tropical fish tank, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for maintaining a proper temperature without a heater (since my heater will have no power). Thank you!

I just bought my guppy today so she is not fully accustomed to her new home. She is pregnant though and her gravid spot is very visible. I don’t know her normal personality but she is hiding often, but still swims quickly. When should I put her in the breeder tank?

I have about 50 3 month old guppy fry in a 10 gallon fish tank, is that bad? There is a plant a stump type thing From walmart a heater at 80f and a filter.

A guppy’s average lifespan is approximately 12 months, with sexual maturity reached at 8 weeks and full size reached at 6 months.

Are they worth the extra cash??? I’m thinking about getting my boyfriend and bigger fish tank for Christmas, but right now he has a smaller one with freshwater fish. Tropical fish are a lot cooler looking and theres more variety.

Unfortunatly a 10gal tank does restrict your choice to fairly small fish.

But I would suggest getting either a Betta or a Dwarf Gourami, and a small group of Cory catfish.

how long is a piece of string. all depends what size the fish will end up and wat kind of fish u want. always best to decide wat fish u want first then design a system around ur choices

Question by dreaming_vendetta: How long does it take guppy fry to mature?
About a month, month and a half ago, my only female guppy gave birth to about 6-7 guppies. They are still only about 1/3 the size of the female. Not that that’s a problem or anything, but I’m just curious how long it’ll take them to grow into adults?
