In a 20g, a school of tetras, a school of corys, maybe some danios, a small pleco such as a clown or bristlenose. And that should be all to stay on the safeside. Or you could try a pair of dwarf cichlids with some dither fish. It all depends on your filtration, get a 40g rated filter to always be safe and not have to worry about overloading your boi capacity. What do you think? Answer below!

What are some tropical fish that can fit in a 15 gallon and add color to the tank?
Filed under GardeningApr 13Question by Amanee o: What are some tropical fish that can fit in a 15 gallon and add color to the tank?
I really wanted mollies but when I found that they’re live bearers and breed all the time I really don’t want baby fishes all around the tank. So what are some small tropical fish that have color? and if I do get mollies how can you tell a male from a female?Best answer:
Answer by Happybunny664
fancy guppies are colorful and the pet store people keep the females and males separate or else they would breed like crazy so you wouldn’t need to know how to tell if they were male or femaleAdd your own answer in the comments!

Question by Steven N: How many tropical fish can I keep in a 150 gallon fish tank?
I am purchasing a 150 gallon aquarium, and I want to know an average number of fish I can keep in this tank. I do not want salt water fish, so I wonder how many tropical fish I can keep, average size of danios and minnows, or perhaps cold waters such as a few orandas or ranchus.Best answer:
Answer by thatfishchick
It would depend entirely on the species in question, as well as your level of care commitment. A 150 is a huge, blank canvas with hundreds – no thousands – no COUNTLESS options available to you, so why not head to your local fish store and see what strikes your fancy. As per the goldfish more specifically, if you stuck with the fancy varieties, 3 to 5 at adult size. People say I over estimate on goldfish minimums. That may be true, but goldfish are large growing, full bodied animals that produce a hefty amount of organic wastes (*both solid and liquid) and consume a large amount of dissolved oxygen. Keeping, cooler temperature water will increase the maximum saturation level of DO, but there is still the aspect of wastes to think about.
If you want to see their best size, color, and conformation, stick to conservative stocking with goldfish, or leaving them to ample sized ponds. Several koi and goldfish farms actually grow their fish out in downright giant ponds and use sparing stocking to really see excellent quality animals coming in at the end of the season (*there was, specifically, an article in TFH about four or five years back featuring the Sakai family koi farm and their use of earth ponds for this same technique).

Question by ihcuids: What are some easy tropical fish to use in a new 10 gallon aquarium?
I have a 10 gallon tank and would like to start a tropical fish tank, but I’ve only had goldfish before this. I know I have to let the tank go through a two week cycle before I put fish in it to build up the good bacteria and such, but I was wondering if there were some easy, but pretty and nice to keep, tropical fish to start out with.Best answer:
Answer by Ryan N
There are some nice swordtails and platys you could start with. They come in a variety of colors and finnage. The breed easily though. Cardinal tetras also look amazing in a group, but I wouldn’t add those until your tank is stable for some time (about 6 months). Threadfin rainbows also looks nice in a group, but I would wait on those as well. You best bet for a new tank would be a small group of danios. They are hardy and usually survive the cycle. Then once your tank is stable look for soem other fish to add like tetras.
The cycle won’t really complete until you have added fish to produce ammonia that the bacteria eats. So when you add fish add no more than 2 and test you water for a few weeks until the ammonia and nitrites peak and then go back to 0. Then add more fish slowly.
