Question by Billy-Joe: How will i clean my tropical fish tank?
I plan on getting a community tropical fish tank with my biggest fish being an angelfish (adult), when cleaning the tank what happen to the fish, do thy need a small tank or bags or something?

    Best answer:

    Answer by John D
You never take all the water out when you clean it. You need to maintain the bacteria level and you don’t what to shock the fish. Every few weeks you should do about a 20-25% water change. Take out about a quarter of the water and clean all of the ornaments in the tank and change your filters and all that stuff. You also want to scrub the inside of the glass with a special scrubber you get at the pet store so it doesn’t scratch. Make sure you put chemicals in the tap water before you put it back in the aquarium to take out the ammonia, chlorine, and all that stuff.

you have 2 many fish for that size tank

Question by claireybearyfairy: Other then fish, what could I have in my tropical fish tank?
I’ve had tropical fish all my life (litrally) but have never actually experimented having anything but silly little fish. When I last went to the fish shop to buy a new pump they had a stingray for sale in the marine section and I just wished I could have something more interesting and exiting then fish for once. I know I wont be able to get a marine tank because they take a lot of work so is there anything interesting that I could have in a tropical fish tank?

You could also put some water frogs in there. They will eat off of the bottom and are interesting to watch.

Question by Smemelly: How do you grow live plants in a tropical fish tank ?
I have a tropical fish tank(10 gallon) and i want to grow live plants but i don’t know how?
or how many plants to put in my 10 gallon tank.

    Best answer:

    Answer by Cavalier girl
it depends on the plants really. some need alot of lighting like swords and some need just normal aquarium lighting. BUT some need special substrate to grow in. id just stick with some java moss on a piece of drift wood and then some planted java ferns. and some anubias nana petite because they only get a few inchs high. just beware of snails who might hitch a ride on one of the plants the plants you buy. Their eggs and larvae can come on the new plants so check under leaves. also algea might grow on the plants so a otocinculus dwarf catfish or red cherry shrimp will gladly clean it off and not harm your plants.

Question by Carly E: How and when should I Take guppy fry out into a differant tank from their mother?
I have a pregnant Guppy in my tank, i need to know when i should separate the mother from her fry so she doesn’t try to eat them
2 1/2 weeks in to pregnancy

    Best answer:

    Answer by Guppy Girl 2
I would go to the pet store and get a breeder tank. That way you don’t have to move her to a different tank. A breeder tank floats in the tank and separates the mother from the fry. How far along is she? Guppies are pregnant for 4 weeks. Don’t put her in there until 2 days-1 week before birth. That way she can’t abort the fry. When she gives birth, keep her in the breeder tank for 2 extra days so she can destress. Then let her go. Leave the fry in there for 6-8 weeks or until they are bigger than the adults mouths. You can feed the fry what you feed the adults.

    Good Luck!!!!

not for a while, if at all… since they techras are in the main tank now, they have dominance, and look at anything that you put in after them as food or competition.. so I would be careful
